Wireless Smoker Thermometer

There is a long tradition of cooking thermometers, but having accurate thermometers for smokers is a more recent and significantly more complex achievement. The temperature measuring aspect relates to two arenas, the temperature of the smoke and the temperature of the meat being smoked. It is not always easy to control smoker temperature, which adds to the complexity. Nevertheless the there are several approaches that have been worked out for successful thermometers of this type. The wireless component adds additional flexibility. There are even systems where one can monitor from a distance both the temperature of the meat and the smoke. Usually that does not include being able to control the smoke from a distance, and so one must keep going back to the smoker to make adjustments if one wants to exercise close control. The good news is that the wireless distance aspect makes this much easier. The key to the smoker thermometer is to have two probes. One is to insert a properly designed probe into meat to monitor the progress of the meat. The other is to be strategically placed in the smoke itself so that the smoke temperature can be carefully observed. With a wireless device one has the ultimate advantage of being able to be flexible in location during the cooking period. A supplement in this regard is to have count up and count down timers to assisting in framing and fine tuning the cooking experience. Another add on feature is to program into the sensors threshold temperature monitor with alarms to warn if either a meat or a smoke threshold is being exceeded.
